If you can get someone close to her to give you an idea of her ring size it would help a lot! Ask someone to take her to a jeweler and try rings on for fun, say she's going ring shopping for her Mom's birthday or something. While they're there they can try on rings. When her/your friend finds a ring that fits, they can size the ring and know the size. You can also use a bread tie to get her size while she sleeps, when you have the ring done you can have it sized down or up. If it's sized down it will take a while, if it needs sized up only a small amount you may be able to just have it stretched. I hope my ideas help! Good Luck! =)

A jeweler can size a ring to be bigger or smaller. I wouldn't take her with you because it would spoil the surprise. Most rings are a size 7 when they arrive at the jewlery shop and if you take her it could take a couple of days to get it before she could wear it. Or you could do something else... Propose with a toy ring and inform her (after she says yes) that you'll take her to a shop and pick one out together. I think that would make it a little fun and unforgettable. Also a great story for the kids :o) Good Luck!!

Too big. 1. You don't pay for extra gold if it needs sizing down. Sizing down is also usually less hard on the ring itself. 2. If she wants she can still wear it and show the ring off until resizing 3. Wedding band may mean it needs to be bigger. My engagment ring sits on-top of my wedding band because of the design so is actually a size bigger than it should be. When i wore it alone I just had a plastic sizer from Claires.

Yes, you could get it sized and depending on store policy you can also return it for one that fits.

Of course, if your partner knows her own ring size, it's probably a good idea to ask. If you're proposing, it's best you've already talked about getting married and she knows you're going to propose. Suprise proposals are very unfair to women. If men get so long to think about marriage and plan a proposal, why should women only get a few seconds to answer while being bribed with a ring and a wedding? I think this is a reason behind divorce. Do yourself a favor and talk about it first!

Yes they can be sized up and down :)

If she has another ring I'd sneak it from her & take it to get it sized at any jewelry store. You can have them tell you what size it is... then put the ring back before she notices.

DONT RUIN THE SURPRISE - I loved the way my husband proposed with a surprise

Just a suggestion but, if you don't know her ring size, I would make sure to get it smaller than what you think it is just speaking from a girls point of view i always feel better if people buy me things smaller than i ware rather than bigger. it makes me feel better.

good answers. i'll just add that's it's easier (and less expensive) to have a ring made smaller than it is to have a ring enlarged.
having a ring enlarged involves "stretching" it out and sometimes weakens it as well.
but check with the jeweler.
and good luck!

Yes, they can be sized.
it's easier to make them a bit bigger than it is to make them smaller.
When you're holding hands, try to match a part of one of your fingers to her ring finger.
Then try the jewelers size gauge against that part of your finger.
That will give you a starting point so you can at least get close.

You can get a ring re-sized any time you'd like. Just as long as you pay for it.

if this is engagement ring then you need to take her with you and you pick it out and she tries it on and sized. if its just a ring promise me type well you sorta ask her what size she wears.
