When hubby and I were on our first criuse, one of the engines broke, and there was a hurricane following us. It was a day and a half behind us. After we left Puerto Vallarta, that city was hit badly! And b/c of the storm and waves, are ship couldn't stop at Cabo San Lucas. That was the biggest bummer of our trip. We wanted to go there! But thank goodness we were ahead of the storm even on a broken engine. We did get to spend an extra day on the ship though!

A few weeks ago my hubby and I were on our second honey moon. We were bumped from the plane for two days in Rapid City s. d. and I ended up spending my first two days of my trip right in the middle of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. My hubby was in heaven, I went deaf in the roar of Harleys (400 thousand of them), I saw things that I never thought I would ever witness, and saw lots of people who NEVER and I say NEVER should wear black or any other kind of leather clothing. Plus I did learn that those motor cycles are capable of carrying much more weight that I ever gave them credit for.

Oh boy do I...just about one story for every vacation I was ever on too...let's see yes, we were caught in a hurricane...nothing to do but ride it out...it was terrifying...and what else, we were kidnapped yes...but luckly got out of that...and we were robbed...great story to that one, I actually found and confronted the guy and he at least gave us the safety deposit box key as all our passports were locked in there and there was no way to get them out...they didn't even have a locksmith on the island. Let's not even talk about the drugs, guns and people we ran into in Nassau where a woman was murdered on the very beach we were staying at 3 weeks prior...by far the worst experience of my life and one which ended a lifelong friendship with my travel companions.

Oh the stupidity and naivity of youth. I would never let my kids travel to places like that alone. Let's just say if I were to travel today to places like that...it would be to an all inclusive and I would never venture beyond the facility. Those countries down south are not safe for anyone.

Went to Tennessee from Missouri one summer to spend 3-4 days with my husband's sister and her new husband. We had a bit of car trouble and found that the transmission was going out and would not make it back to Missouri if not fixed. It was extremely expensive $1500-2000 if I recall. They did not have the parts needed and ordered them. It took 3 days to receive the parts and another day to work on the car. We were there over a week and the sister made me go grocery shopping with her. Using no tact, she suggested I get my own grocery cart as they were not feeding us any longer. We were stuck at their house in the middle of the country with no vehicle while they both went to work. It was the vacation from h*!!
She's not my sister in law any longer. So much for family!

Here's one I heard. A honeymooning couple were getting into a cab. The woman got in first while the man was still outside the cab. The cab driver drove off with the woman (it was a kidnapping). The man could not find her and eventually he made a police report. She was never found.
