I am just looking for the legal factor on this. My ex-wife willingly let me take nude photos of her. She and I went our seperate ways and I am just curious if it is illegal to put them on a website. Not that I am going to, but she told me I would go to jail and it was a federal crime. Can anyone give me insight on that and what the law says. I live in SC.

you are what you think.

your morals, scruples and ethics would have gone down the tubes were you to expose something that was given to you in the total privacy of wedlock, over or not.
i personally hope that there is a severe reaction to such an action.

Do not publish of display the photos-period. The law might let you but your ex can sue you if you do display the photos and she finds out.

Better to have a civil relationship with your ex-wife; especially if you have children involved. Displaying the photos in anyway is a sure way to get your visits restricted.

It's not illegal unless you sell them. She would have had to sign a release for you to do that. But if you posted them and she got fired from her job, slandered in the community or her reputation tarnished from you doing so then she can sue you in civil court (not criminally which means no jail) for libel and then you might have your wages garnished for the rest of your life. My advice is to delete them, encrypt them or just keep them and not distribute.

Federal crime?,.....it would not matter, where you live,.....what state that is,.....i am quite sure you could if you want to put them on a web site,.....but be the bigger person, don't do it, just know every ones gets what coming to them,.....the former beatle, John Lennon said, in a song, "Instant Karma Gonna Get You",.....look at it this way,.....

It's legal since she consented to having the photos taken of her. My friend's ex-girlfriend put pictures of him online and there wasn't anything he could do about it. He tried.
