Yes many nights, the body is totally worn out but the old brain is not.So here you are trying to go to sleep but your mind is racing a million miles an hour,so no sleep.
The physical tiredness needs the mind to be just as tired so one can drift off into blissful sleep.
Unfortunately the body and the mind do not syncronise tiredness at the same time and whammo,no matter how tired your body is,unless you are just as tired mentally you have a problem,no sleep.

After school basketball practice till nighttime in New Castle, IN, a town with a 9000 seat high school basketball fieldhouse and the Indiana basketball hall of fame and home town of NBA players will make you pretty damn tired. Trust me, it's hard to sleep knowing you gotta do that all winter, even Christmas.

Yeah, I have and it sucks. Especially when you have a super important test in school the next day. I do that, but I usually get to sleep by about 3 in the morning (I go to bed around 10).

Yep.. you spend all day dreaming about lying there in bed and sleeping... then you go to bed and it's like all day you were so tired, that your body was just trying to use adrenaline to keep you up and now you can't get it out of your system.
