Hi Katelyn ...
We love Halloween too! Here is a link to some movies that are more spirited and not scary really. My son and I always watch "When Good Ghouls Go Bad" (which is on this list) It is a pretty cool movie and we haven't gotten sick of it yet.

Here are a few more that are a bit more scary but not really gory:
The Haunting - The original, not that abysmal remake. Directed by Robert Wise. This classic horror film was based on Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. After you watch the movie, read the novel.
The Changeling - This classic horror film stars George C. Scott as a musician who moves into an old house after the deaths of his wife and daughter. The story behind the haunting is so good you would suspect the movie was based on a novel. This movie won several awards.
The Witches - A nine-year-old boy and his grandmother discover adventure when they encounter the Grand High Witch and her diabolical plot to turn all of England's children into mice. Based on the story by Roald Dahl. This was the great Jim Henson's last producer credit.
Practical Magic - This is a story about a family of witches with a long history of magic and persecution. They live a very warm life with each other, but the outsiders don't understand their way of life. One of the witches gets in a jam with an abusive boyfriend and creates a tense situation for the family with the police. The movie creates a good sense of family and feminine power which made it a hit at theaters. Stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
Alfred Hitchcock Classic: (these are scary even now!)
The Birds (1963)
Hitchcock, the master of suspense, ventures into the realm of horror with the depiction of a world in which nature can go suddenly, terrifyingly mad. When Hedren appears in the idyllic coastal village of Bodega Bay with two lovebirds in tow, the local birds inexplicably begin to wage an all-out war on humans. Hitchcock's follow-up to Psycho tops even that landmark for shock value.
Hope this helps a bit ... good luck and enjoy! =)

I have watched "Shaun of the Dead" for the past two Halloweens. It's a send-up of "Dawn of the Dead" with not as much gore, and it's more humourous than scary

...I can never pass on a Halloween showing of the creepy 1978 chiller, "Phantasm"; not overly gory, but good and spooky and chilling , with some real good 'boo' type scares
