Your mind is a very powerful muscle. It can overcome many things, sickness and depression are amongst them. You make the choices to sit and wallow or do something about it. Once you have chosen that you will not allow the depression to control your life, your battle is almost halfway over. Talking to your friends might help, but dont let them influence you in any way. Maybe try a journal, or a friend/family member that you can bounce ideas and thoughts off of, without having a judgemental (non offensive as well) answer. You need ot come to your own conclusions. If in the end, you need to seek a doctor, then do it. But realize that most of the anti-depressant medication only helps you focus better, so you can deal with whatever is getting you down.
good luck!

It depends on the level of depression I suppose. If you're just sad because you broke up with your boyfriend, than more tha likely, support from your friends and family will get you through the rough part of getting over it. If you're depressed for no reason, are suicidal, hate your life, dont want to do anytihing but lay around in bed all day and sleep, then you'd need to see a doctor ASAP. You'd probably need therapy and medication to help you feel better.

It depends on how long you have been suffering from it and how often you suffer from it and how severly. Everyone can be depressed from time to time, it is natural. If you are wondering about this you could call your local mental health center and ask them about this. If it is leading to suicidal thoughts, you need to call right away. It is a good thing that you are aware of what depression can do as well as you needing to get help if it is out of control. Hope you get to feeling better, soon.

Yes, you can definately overcome it. Its not fun and it's definately the long way but you can do it.
Its all mentality. One day you just got to wake up and say, "I don't want to live my life like this anymore. I've got to change."
Breaking the "depression mentality" is the hardest, first step. Once you realize that you have depression, you can take a step to get out of it.
You just got to realize that life is going to get better. Whatever happened to you to make you fall into depression, is over, and your life will continue. You wake up, take a breath, and face the world.
Go out, meet people, explore your world. It will bring you new options in life, and depression will be a distant memory. Its hard, but trust me, its worth it.
Hope this helps. :O)

possibly, it just depends on the person and how they are able to cope.. i have been diagnosed with depression but i do not see a dr,, when you get depressed, try to write your feelings out, take deep breaths, or talk to friends/family/counselors.. if the depression gets so bad that you dont want to live anymore, go see a dr...

It depends on how serious the depression is and how long it's been going on. If you think no one is able to help, then go to a professional, for sure.

yes, talk about what ever with someone who is supportive and understanding; friends, family, even a stranger can help. even changing your diet and adding exercise can make you feel better. let it out but seeking a doctors help is also a good option on top of everything else.
