I want to take this opportunity to say I stand with Israel, with the Jewish people (my people) and our right to live in our homeland with peace and security.

I know we are not perfect, but then again, no one is.

Here is my poem:

"Israel"

My mother said to me
there will never be peace there
My father said to me
America is the best country in the world
and then I left America for Israel

My friend said to me
I hate it here in the summer
the landscape looks harsh
everything stinks

My friend’s words confirmed for me
my feeling, gloating
I love Israel more than she

What does the hellish weather mean to me
What does the terror and wars mean to me
Nothing, nothing that can move me from my beloved

My friend said to me
I love the Land of Israel
My boyfriend said to me
I love the State of Israel

What does state or land mean to me
She is my beloved
She is my Israel
Just as mother cannot explain her love for her child
Just as man cannot explain his love for his woman
I cannot explain my love for Israel

Whether or not G-d exists
Whether or not G-d gave this land to us
We, the Jewish people do exist
and we can sing the Song of Songs
and our song is our love for Israel

Patriotism, nationalism are weak words
What does politics mean to me
Nothing, nothing I am a flying Jew
Flying in Chagall’s painting over Jerusalem
Whether or not she is heavenly Jerusalem
Whether or not she is earthly Jerusalem
Whether or not she is Naomi Shemer’s Jerusalem of Gold
It matters not to me
She is my beloved Israel and I am flying over her soul

I hear the religious and the secular disparage and denigrate one another
I hear the Ashkenazim and the Sephardim disparage and denigrate one another
I hear the immigrants and the sabras disparage and denigrate one another
These are our three fault lines, rifts
finding fault until the earthquake
What does their lashon hara mean, matter to me
I want to cry to all my people (myself included)
Just as our G-d is one, we are one
They are my beloved, Israel

Another land has the most beautiful nature
Another land has the most polite people
Another land has the most tranquil atmosphere
What does that matter to me
I love Israel more
She is my beloved

Hear O Israel:

The land is ours
The land belongs to us
The land of Israel
The house of Israel are one
and are won, forever, inseparable
And now the world knows this is true

I am a Unitarian Universalist and I'd have to say that their First Principle is a very good starting off point - I stand for the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

That means treating EVERYBODY with respect and dignity, even when it is hard, even if it appears they are your enemy. I think it is the right thing to do, because it will lead to the most beneficial society.

I stand for doing whatever I can to nurture my own and other children and young people. They are why we are here. Helping them creates an everlasting future.

I think most everything else I think is important flows from those two things.

a brief sexual encounter lasting only for a single night; "he ran through a series of loveless one-night stands" a performance in one place on one night only Individuals participating in a one-night stand typically have not known each other long and have had minimal time to get to know each other before engaging in sexual activity. A one-night sexual encounter is not necessarily always a one-night stand; the crucial distinction is the expectation or intention that the relationship will not necessarily be extended beyond the initial sexual encounter. A one-night stand is differentiated from prostitution, as it takes place without direct payment of money and from a casual relationship, which may not initially involve sex and may continue long-term. A one-night stand can be thought of as an irregular and unplanned sexual encounter between individuals. The participants will usually have little or no contact with one another aside from sex. Thus it is possible to have multiple one-night stands with the same person, provided that there is no regularity to the encounters or planning involved in the encounters. However, where the people involved have a regular sexual relationship without romantic involvement, this is generally considered a casual relationship (also referred to using terms such as "no strings attached" or "friends with benefits" or a "**** buddy"), and is generally considered distinct from the one-night stand phenomenon.

Some of my most important principles are:

live and let live
take personal responsibility for your action
harm none, do as you will
take care of your children
take care of yourself
enjoy life!
RECYCLE! Take care of our one and only planet Earth!

I'm sure there are lots of others....

I'm not so sure that I personally stand for anything, I have these as guidelines for my behavior, but when I think of something that stands for something, I think of things like how a flag stands for a country.

My principles are things that I value in my self and others, things that I hope my son notices and emulates, things that I do that benefit others as well as myself, and they must, in my opinion, be positive and strong influences in my life.

For example, I am a pagan and I am very concerned about the state of our planet. I am a strong advocate for recycling, re-using, I drive a hybrid car, and I teach my students about the importance of recycling. They have all learned that the little triangle on the underside of plastic bottles tells you that you can recycle that bottle. Any paper, plastic bottles or cans that end up in the trash in my classroom get immediately taken out and put into our recycling box.

I don't stand for recycling: the little triangle on the under side of the plastic bottle is what stands for recycling. I am an advocate of recycling and I push for it everyday, using that little symbol that stands for something I believe in with all my soul and heart.

This was an interesting question, and I thank you!
Blessings,
Lady Morgana )0(

PS to all: have you recycled today? :-)

My main focus in life is honesty and compassion for others. I have always felt being honest is very important. The damage dishonesty can cause others is astronomical. I'm not talking about white lies, I'm talking lies people tell to cover the truth because they are trying to cover for friends or protect themselves from their own vicious ways. I became even more set in my ways after I was conspired against within the work place because people refused to tell the truth, whether it be because they were afraid of losing their jobs or because they were covering up for friends, I ended up not only being harassed, but, slandered, disabled, and lost my job to boot. For the people who were involved, I will never forgive you, and you best hope I don't lose my mind altogether and blow your head off. That is how angry I am. I have fought with the urge to kill these people for 3 years now, and I can tell you it will never go away until they have suffered the same pain they have caused me.

I, have alot of grey ares, but its basically, be peaceful towards everyone and everything, (this is kind of a karma thing,) what you do to others will come back to you, it's okay to be angry and dislike people tho, never hate anyone or anything, but you must forgive them for what they did even if it was horrible, you must forgive yourself for the things that you do, life is endless,, as for the why part, because I find it hard to believe in all this supreme power and one creator stuff, it's wonderful that others embrace that sort of thing, but it's not for me, I think that if every one is peaceful, and thinks before they do things, then they wouldn't do such mean things to others, people would be less angry and hateful, umm laugh, it's good for you, like I said it's really grey but it's warm,

I believe in honesty. More people will be willing to listen to God's word. But not if they think you are not an honest person .
Do as to others as you would have them do unto you. It's a good starting place for friendships.
Be humble in all that you do and give to others. Jesus said not to yell it from the street corners for all to hear.

Honesty has to be #1 because I believe honesty IS the best policy - for me.

Ethical because that's being honest to myself.

Patriotism because I respect the men and women who've lost their lives protecting it - beginning with the American Revolution.
