my husband is planning on getting one done after the birth of our third child.
Any men that have one done could you give me some info on getting it done.
He has read of the procedure and what happens but there seems to be two types.
One uses a scapel to cut the vas defrens and the other is non surgical?
thanks

I never heard of a non-surgical vasectomy. I can tell you a surgical one is done under a local, is rather quickly done, involves two minor incisions, & your husband could walk out afterwards. It is very painful for about 3 days afterwards, ice helps so does pain meds. It took awhile to set up, the doctor said that many men chicken out and don't show, so they don't get the instruments etc. ready until the patient shows up.

My husband had one done surgically in the urologists office. He had it done under a local, with 2 little snips and a butterfly bandage. Sure he was sore for a few days. Said it felt like a pulling sensation but definately not terrible. Used ice packs for the evening and was back to work on Monday.

I had mine done about 8 years ago. Mine was just cut and stitched over. It doesn't hurt much and is just a bit uncomfortable. I had it done under local antithetic and drove myself home again.
