i live with my mom and pay her rent. my brother lives with us and he is bi-polar and sometimes its really tough dealing with him. my sister also live with us and we're extremely close. We live in South Florida. my best friend who lives in New York City offered me a room (rent free). all i would have to do is babysit her children from time to time. im really comfortable in my mom's house in the sense that i have my own bedroom, tv, private phone line, and computer. but i often wonder how it would be to live somewhere else. any advice?

Before you make a decision to move to New York.
How about going and visiting your friend. That way you could see for yourself what you could be getting yourself into...

I realize you wont have to pay Rent if you move in with your friend.. I can only wonder how long it will take before your friend will want you to contribute with the bills.
As far as babysitting goes, I am sure she will take full advantage of that as well...
Are you prepared to have children around you all the time, plus the babysitting, which I am sure will be more than you think..

Like I said, go for a visit and see if it would be something you would really want to do.

Good luck, faith
