It's possible, but I'd see a doctor if I were you. Do you have central air or is it a window unit? If it's a window unit, I highly suggest that you give it a close inspection. I don't think that cool air will make you sick, but if you have another problem, it can certainly compound it! Did you know that it's possible to contract Legionnaire's Disease if you have stagnant water in your window unit? You could also have an issue with mold or mildew if you keep getting reoccurring respiratory infections. Again, for your baby's sake, I can't urge you enough to see your doctor. About three years ago, I lived in a large (4000 sq ft.) very nice rental home. It was built in the 60s and was just awesome! From maybe a month after I moved into the house, I started having upper respiratory tract infections. After a year of that, I finally went to the doctor. After another six months of antibiotics and decongestants, my doctor suggested I have the house I was living in checked for mold. Guess what? The insides of the walls were riddled with the stuff. I moved two weeks later and haven't had any problems since. Now, that's not to say you have mold in your home, but it says, to me, that there's a problem and it ain't the AC, dear! Good luck!

If you have the AC on constantly, day after day, then yes, it can increase your chance for upper respiratory problems, although we've not had infections. Both my dad and I get a cough that doesn't go away until the a/c is off for a day or two. It is not mold in our case, but it is in some people's cars and a/cs.

Yep. I used to put gauze (neatly) over the vents and use space heaters (yes, in the summer) when I was being frozen out of house and home. It worked! Dr.'s don't agree, but YES they cause a lot of problems.

Hope you're better soon. Peace.

EDIT: Are you a homeowner, or a renter... get someone to get you a new air filter (goes on the HVAC unit). Those things are germ magnets and need to be changed often but usually NEVER get changed. They cost like a buck at the hardware store. Try it... you won't get sick as much, I promise.

it's quite possible...do you have central a/c, or a window unit? both require routine maintenance and cleaning, but a window unit is known to harbor bacteria due to the accumulation of condensation...do you rent? i would tell the landlord that you think the a/c requires cleaning whether it's central a/c or a unit...sometimes, just a thorough cleaning w/ diluted bleach will help...also, mold and mildew are not healthy for anyone, especially a baby...get it inspected soon, before you end up in the hospital

I notice that when I have our fan on at night we all wake up with sniffles... the a/c could be causing you to get sick if you are going to bed with minimal clothing on but are cold in the middle of the night. Im not certain that is the cause of it but I think its likely.

Good luck, I hope you and the baby get some relief soon.

Probably! I couldn't figure out why my baby and I weren't sleeping well recently and it is because our weather had been VERY hot so we had the air conditioner on all night. We both had terrible sinus allergy symptoms each morning and weren't sleeping well. After 2 nights of sleeping without the air conditioner and the windows open again, we were better and sleeping all night.
(We sleep in different beds but the same bedroom because we are staying with my parents right now.)

Definitely try sleeping without the air on!

A/C can bring on cold like problems and yes it can bring on URI. My boys are just getting over a cold they got because of the A/C in their bedroom. When it got cool for awhile and i turned off the A/C they seemed to get better then i turned the A/C back on today and again they seem to be getting a bad cold.

never got URI from the AC, it can give you a stiff neck or a stiff back with lots of sniffles, thats about it, nothing major
