Umbilical-cord?

Ok, I know this seems like a silly question, however I'm very serious. When does the umbilical-cord begin to grow during pregnancy?

HI, i read in a book its around 3 weeks and keeps growing so it can provide nutrients to the growing baby.

soon after implantation, by 5-6 weeks I think.
