2A / 3 = 8 + 4A

Multiply both sides by 3
3( 2A / 3 ) = 3 (8 + 4A)
2A = 24 + 12A
-24 = 10A
A = -24 / 10
A = -2.4

The first step in solving this equation is to multiply both sides of the equation by 3.

(3/1)[2a/3]=3(4a+8)

The 3's cross cancel out on the left side of the equation, so we are left with:

2a=3(4a+8)

We can now distribute the 3 on the right side of the equation:

2a=12a+24

Now we want a on one side of the equation and our constant on the other. We subtract 12a from both sides of the equation:

2a-12a=24
10a=24
a=(24/10)=(12/5)

multiply all terms by 3. It cancels out on the left and on the right side you get 24+12A You get 2A=24+12A. Move the 2A to the right and change the sign. Move the 24 to the left and change the sign. You then get -24=-2A+12A. -24=10A, divide by 10 and get -24/10=A, Reduce to -12/5.

::
2A/3=8+4A
8 = 2A/3 - 4A
8 = A * ( 2/3 - 4)
8 = A * (2/3 - 12/3) = A * (-)10/3
8 *(-) 3/10 = A
(-)24 / 10 = A = (-)12/5 = (-) 2.4

check:
2A/3=8+4A
2*(-2.4)/3 = 8 - 4*(2.4)
-1.6 = 8 - 9.6
-1.6 = - 1.6

looks ok

{{ ps: I used (-) for the "minus-sign" because it's easy to *miss* seeing a "-" when l;ooking at a puter screen }}

2A/3 = 8 + 4A
2A = 24 + 12A
- 24 = 10 A
A = - 24 / 10
A = - 12 / 5

I honestly tried...I don't think there is an answer. Did you type it wrong? Maybe it needs some parentheses in there somewhere?
