Although medications, such as SSRI's -are helpful in some cases, others benefit from therapy sessions, group therapy,or help from spirituality. Also realizing that depression is a true illness- not a character flaw or laziness. Some depression is situational or based on certain events, this responds well to therapy, but in the case of a chemical imbalance (such as seratonin or dopamine) meds may be required, at least until the person is out of danger. If the depression is genetic, runs in the family etc.. it is physical. So, that would be like telling a Cancer patient to meditate or go talk to a therapist as a way to treat the cancer. Talk to a professional- there are many treatment modalities now and help is available, in many forms- also on-line support groups and information (avoid the site's where people just dwell or discuss suicide etc..). If suicide is thought of or planned one must get help immediately!!! Good luck

Even if you aren't a huge fan of it. Write in a journal. It sounds pathetic at times, but it really does help. You can sort of identify what is making you depressed, and hopefull you can do something about it.

Get a good sleep schedule, and try to get whatever work you need to get done on time. Also, it helps to feel acomplished. Make a list of things that you want to do thoughout the day. Try to do all of them. Even if you dont finish, at least you will have done some of them.

whatever you do don't cut yourself or eventually your family will send you to a mental institute like me. or you can cut and make sure no one finds out. it may not be the healthiest way but it gets rid of the depression

Admit you need help and GET IT. It took me many years to admit I had a problem and when I did I felt such immense relief. I am now happy and feel like a 'normal' person finally.

You're in the wrong category for real answers, Honey.
Go to Mental Health.

Personally, I would tell you to see a therapist.

Before you waste money on therapy try going to church. You will probably realize how small some of the things that are bothering you really are.

Realize that GOd loves and cares for you. His word says, "Cast your anxieties on God, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7)." Turn to Jesus and He will get you through. If you need more help, let me know.
