Do you think that a persons personality, thinking, feelings etc, comes from qualities that they were born with or are they based on everything that the person saw, heard learned ever since they were a baby, adding their appearance and health which i always considered a big factor in the way a person behavior grows to be? Very philosophical question that i have pondered for a while

nature vs nurture has been a topic pondered by thousands over many many years, and there is STILL no concensus. We each of us make up our own minds as to what we think is right and just keep muddling along.

There are some personality traits that you are born with; you can see this in very young children, such as a tendency towards shyness or aggression. Those “born in” personality traits affect how one will react to environmental stimuli such as what they see, hear, and how other people treat them. Some young children, also, pick up these traits from their parents and accept them as normal, mimicking them. There is also the hormonal factor, which is something that you are born with. In all I think that it is really just an amazing combination of both nature and nurture that our minds play with and piece together to form the complex personality.

A person's character is based on what they are around. If they have grown up in a racist home, that person has a better chance of become racist themselves, because their parents tell them that people that look different are not normal. A lot has to do with confidence too. If a person grew up large then their confidence level will be shot a long with their personality (usually). It depends on how other people react to other people and how they will react. Each day we add new building blocks and to change the blocks we have to knock them down.

I believe its learning from all past expiriences. I am a different person than i was 2 years ago because i took what i disliked about myself and threw it out. Plus, i think many feelings are based on the way you are treated growing up.

my oldest sons father died before he was born, yet he displays a lot of character traits of his father. things like how he laughs when he wins a card game, how he dances when hes being silly, the way he moves his face when hes checking himslef in the mirror, even some of the phrasing that he uses in his normal speech. none of which he would ever have learned from his father.

Well we all know babys & children have their own personalitys from birth but I think that some of their personality is also formed by what they go thru in their lifetime.

Actually a very big focus on many research fronts.
Often referred to as "Nature vs. Nurture."
I believe it's a bit of both.

It is both. Genetics/biology + experience encompasses nearly everything that makes us who we are in terms of mental status, personality, intelligence, etc.
