I have a Dell 2005FPW that I've had for about a year and a half. It is a 20.1" LCD Ultrasharp flatpanel. My main problem with it is that it shuts off at random moments, and completely shuts off (eg. pushing the power button doesnt work, unpluging and repluging, etc) and then after an hour, it turns back on, but has pretty degraded quality. I restart my computer, then it works fine. I know you may be thinking it may be my gfx card, but I have an NVidia 7900GT with the latest drivers and updates, the temp is 55 C and the fan works on it. This monitor is plugged in through DVI, I pluged it into a VGA and it works as well. Honestly, I'm stumped, and I build computers and repair them as a job.

The monitor looses power, none of the status lights even turn on. At least in sleep mode, the lights are orange.

I think it may be a heat issue, because the top of the monitor is a little warm, and the problems started coincidentally with this heat wave we are experiencing.

If it's a heat related problem, try setting a fan up to blow on the back of the monitor and see if the problem keeps happening. Hopefully, it's not too old and Dell with replace it.

If the problem keeps happening and rebooting with out doing anything else fixes the problem then you might want to reseat your video card and check all your connections.
