Oil from water, many people will say it let it set, using a separatory funnel will help. There are also other ways, for example using a hydrogel, especially that contains PVA, which is a poly-vinyl polymer, it is resistant to oil and grease. Hydrogel also contain a polyester, which can be sulfonated. Hydrogels have the ability to soak in the water. Then you should be able to pick out the hydrogel from the oil.

Gasoline and motor oil works a bit differently., one simple way is place styrofoam into the combination. The gasoline will look as if it is eating it away. But it is simple making a different liquid called napalm. It is heavy. This time let it set in a beaker or such, and take out the motor oil from the top.

**** napalm is used in warfare, so becareful of it's properties.

Oil from water is easy. They separate physically because the oil floats on the water. There are also absorbent packs that are made to separate them by absorbing only the water so only the oil is left in a container.

Gas and oil are miscible and would have to be distilled or maybe run through a centrifuge to pull them apart.
