Everytime this comes up the ditto-heads always think the question is about HEALTH CARE, as if anyone has suggested that. A national UNIVERSAL HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN would simply pay the bills...it would have nothing to do with PRIVATE HEALTH CARE. Can you guys simply address the issue without crabbing about SOCIALIZED MEDICINE? That's not part of the equation!

If we want low cost/high quality health care then we need to get rid of insurance being paid for by companies. Think about it-if employers didn't pay part of our policies the health insurance companies would be at a total war with each other to get the cheapest/best policies available. You don't see these health insurance companies running specials or sending out coupons to discount costs of things. It's pretty naive of you to think the government can make anything simple. When I worked in a pharmacy I would guess that 5 percent of our insured people really had a good grasp on the subject of insurance. Most would just stare at me with a blank expression on their faces and shrug their shoulders. It will get much worse if the government takes it over. Not to mention those poor people trying to keep their bills straight. What a mess.

Its not possible. We need to get to the source of the problem: greed. There are alternatives to socialized medicine which would give the government more power and authority over our lives.

medicare. pre paid health insurance exists for senior citizens now. it is garbage. medicare and SS are plagued by abuse of services. the same thing would happen on a much larger and damaging scale if this failed social program were released to the general public.

as always, removing state and federal mandates on health insurance providers would make it affordable to just about everyone. i don't need to be covered for simple walk in procedures or for child birth, these are expected costs, my auto insurance doesn't cover oil changes and tires, why should my health insurance cover expected expenses. people should be able to shop for their health insurance by themselves. my employer doesn't provide my auto or home insurance, why do they or the government NEED to supply my health insurance?

The same people paying the bills now, would be paying the bills then, so what does a title matter. call it what you will....The end result is the same, regardless of what you call it.

I guess what Dark S is saying is no Republicans cannot merely argue the proposal on the table.
