Try this...
* 1 gallon of distilled vinegar
* 1 cup of salt
* 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap
Spray directly on weeds leaves. Don't get it on plants you want to keep. Not harmful for animals but will kill other foliage if you spray it direction on it. Mix up a batch and put it in a spray bottle. Pull weeds that are right next to flowers, then spray this solution on remaining weeds.
Hope that helps.

As has been stated, if it will kill a weed, it will kill a flower. What you need to look at is what kind of flowers, what kind of weeds, and how close are the weeds to the flowers. All of these factors make a difference in what weed killer you can use.
As to the vinegar mixes...work but perennial and biennial weeds will re-sprout and regrow and it will alter the pH of the soil if over applied, and that can cause flowers to die even if not sprayed.
As to the clove oil products...work very well for annual weeds, but perennial and biennial weeds will re-sprout and regrow. You must continually retreat to keep them dead.
Round-up (glyphosate) is very effective WHEN applied in accordance with the label. If you accidentally spray any on the flowers, it will kill them also. Round-up also takes 7 to 10 days before weeds start to look dead. A trick to help protect "good" plants while applying Round-up is to use a 12" x 12" cardboard sheet between the flower and the weed so no herbicide splashes off the weed onto the flower.
None of the listed products will do any harm to any animal when used correctly.

Yes... you. Most weeds can be pulled by hand or mulched over.
