For short, try "The Time Machine" by HG Welles or "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" by L Frank Baum. Otherwise, try anything by Jeff Shaara, "The Killer Angels" by Micheal Shaara, or "The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon" by Washington Irving.

Night by Elie Wiesel (109 pages)
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse (152 pages)
My first pick would be Night by Elie Wiesel because not only is it really short, its also hard to put down. The downside is that its really sad so if you would prefer something more spiritual I would go with Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse.

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. It's short, it's very interesting, and there are many potential paper topics.

I recommend The Road by Cormac Mc Carthy. It is not that long but it is a very memorable read. You will never forget it. Pax- C
