I have a Pentium 4 3.00 GHz (2 CPU), 2 gigs of DDR2 ram, and a x1300 PCI-E. I am now looking a budget card that will max out BF2142. My choices are a EVGA 8600 GT PCI-E GDDR3 or a 7600 PCI-E or AGP 256mb card. I want to keep my framerates 25 and higher. So what will it be? Thanks if you can help!

I get around 20 FPS with some crapy old 7100gs will easly work on 8600gt or a 7600. 2 Gigs is heaps i run it on 1g.

Dont use AGP, it is old and outdated. Get PCI-Express x16.

You are running a Pentium D obviously as you said you have two Pentium 4's. That will be fine i have like half your system and can run it at 34fps at medium settings.

PS: Dont worry about the 8600 if you are planning on staying around the bf2142 era if you dont plan on using DX 10 then dont get it.

the 8600 series is a lot better than the 7600. Just go with the 8600 one. Its performance is amazing. If you really wanna squeeze out more framrates, playing in a lower resolution will help, although I think you know this.

Better get the factory overclocked 8600GT then overclock it some more. It will easily do 11,000+ 3D marks in 3D Mark05. Your x1300 could probably be doing much less than 3,000 3D marks.
