It only dies if the people 'in love' don't work to 'stay in love'. Yep, you heard me, you've got to work at it. The very same things that endear you to your partner, could eventually become annoying, so you need to find new things. Keep it fresh, communicate, realize that you will both change, and your relationship needs to change too. The emotions in the beginning of a relationship will not last forever, lust fades, love can fade too, if you let it. That's the key, keep working at it, eventually you'll find that you love your partner more after years and years than you did at the beginning. You also realize that what holds one couple together may not work for another. I'd love to say that only with God can your love be sustained through the years, but I've known atheists that have been married for very long times too, the death till you part kind of long time. So, you need to find what works for you and your significant other. It will only die if you let it.

Me too but as cynical as I am, I always seem to be addicted to the notion of love. Dangerous, no?

Besides, love can deflate as fast as it happened, so be careful, friends.

I don't think it can...I think either it is so intense that people are afraid of it, or that it fades over time sometimes....

if someone has deceived you or betrayed you it dies pretty quickly. i guess shock and hurt is first, then there's nothing left.
