all of my friends think we need one right in town... We only have one in the higher part of state??? how can i tell our mayor and what to ask her..

If you have a petition drive to show interest in having a shelter you would get better responce from the mayor. You could start a friends of the animals group willing to get a shelter started and volunteers to help work in the shelter, you have a start that the community could be involved with this project. You could try to identify a building that could be converted into a shelter and with volunteers to help convert it into a usable facility. You might find out that the city could come with a building and volunteers could help in getting it started so the city would not have to hire people to run this much needed shelter. This has worked in my state of Iowa in our smaller towns, the combination of city , citizens has allowed t stray animals to get a second chance to get a home.

Get a petition going and get as many names on the list and then mail your mayor a letter with the names enclosed and explain why you need a new shelter in your town.
