is it really just a one tenth of an inch difference? why do they even bother? which way do they measure the monitor? horizontal or vertical? is a 20.1 widescreen wider than a 20.1 non widescreen?
thanks!!

LCD monitors are measured diagonally for the viewable area.

A 20" widescreen will be wider than a 20" conventional monitor, but is will also be shorter.

Because you would get the maximum area for a square screen the further you move away from square the less area you have. So a conventional 20" monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio will actually have a larger area of screen than a 20" widescreen with a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio.

monitors are measured diagonally from one corner to the other not vertical. the difference between wide screen and normal is tha angle that the line from one corner to the other is normal ones are 45 degrees which makes a square as for wide screens the angle changes depending on the size. as for the 20.1" and the 20" i have never heard of the 20.1" so i dont know the difference sorry.

Cheers hope this helps
