Well the Democratic majority congress has lower approval ratings than the Republican President so the GOP is indeed at the top of the polls.

Steelgrave - do you deliberately misinterpret polls or is it just a form of political dyslexia you share with Dubya.
To argue that Bush's pathetic ratings are somehow justified by congress having a lower approval is really clutching at straws.
Here are the real numbers.
Bush job satisfaction 29%
http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm
35% have more confidence in Bush while 48% have more confidence in the Dems in congress (ie exactly the opposite of what you are pretending the polls say)
http://www.pollingreport.com/bush.htm
37% believe the Dem congress has been a success - sure not a great number but still way better than Bush's numbers
50% are happy the Dems won control of congress
28% are mostly pleased with what the Dems in congress are doing - again a really bad number but still better than the 21% who are mostly pleased with what the Republicans in congress are doing.
http://www.pollingreport.com/congress.htm
This all would explain why 53% are leaning to voting Dem for congress next year to 41% Republican.
http://www.pollingreport.com/cong2008.htm
And why 51% favor a Dem candidate for president over 27% favoring a Republican or why of the 9 matchups they polled Dems are winning 8 of them with the other a tie.

When you are going to quote polls it is best to
1. Understand them
2. Not misrepresent them
3. Cite a source.

But hell - I don't really mind. It was this sort of denial that anything was wrong that got you such a royal pants kicking in 2006 so it really is quite pleasing to see that so many of you have learnt nothing as a result.
Bring on 2008

No, Rove wouldn't mind if the GOP was at the top of the polls, but his main promotion was and is since 1976 to promote and protect the love of his life W

most people who think they are smarter than the system don't get away for long...there has been a string of things...Bush has been sliding and Rove isn't doing anybody any good. His downsliding is an indicator that America will suffer the fool, but not forever.

His involvement with the very things congress is getting closer to will harm Bush...Rove is in the center of most of it...and he's smart enough to untether himself from Bush.

Both agree AND disagree...

Rove is a genius tactician. In other words he knows how to fight a political battle. As with all neo-cons, Rove could not see the long term repercussions. Rove as with the British (revolution) knows how to win battles, yet knows nothing about winning the war. He is strong on tactics yet empty on far reaching strategy.

Neo-cons are very short term thinkers. Seeing beyond the horizon is foreign to them. George Washington actually retreated several times while waiting for the opportune moment to strike. And strike he did. Today, just as with the short sighted invasion of Iraq, neo-cons think short term, and leave the consequences in the laps of others, to include large debt for the next generation to contend with.

One cannot explain to a neo-con how you gain more buying power AND avoid a recession by decreasing deficit spending. They can't ponder too many variables at one time. They simply see tax cuts, as the end-all be-all financial solution.

Last polls I checked Bush's numbers were up slightly, and congress numbers were at around 27% approval rating.
