Lord Of The Rings. Pirates Caribbean #1 was good but #2 sucked and I can only assume #3 was worse than both. And even though #1 was good it wasn't nrealy as good as any of LOTR. Star Wars is a great series (without Hayden Christiansen) and more of a classic but is no where near the quality of LOTR. LOTR is the best.

Well, Star Wars came first, and set the standard that Lord Of The Rings and Pirates molded themselves on. But, Rings was based on the books that were written before Lucas wrote Star Wars, and those books inspired him to create his epic. So, even though I'm a huge fan of SW, I'll put them in this order...

Lord Of The Rings
incredible storytelling, depth of characters, and realistic acting

Star Wars
exciting and state of the art special effects, fun storytelling that never lets up

Pirates Of The Caribbean
fun story, but very little depth, better acting than SW

The Lord of the Rings:

if you say Star Wars was so ahead of its time.. remind me when Lord of the Rings was published?: 30 years before.

With the Lord of the Rings, you experience EVERY moment of EVERY event with EVERY character. Instead of maybe five, major characters with all the other films, you learn to LOVE every single member of the fellowship, passionatley hate all its enemies, follow the stories and events of the others involved in the war for the ring. Each and every character is so deeply involved in the struggle, making it so very realistic. Lord of the Rings is far more then literature or a film, its something you can feel love for, something you will remember until you die

The themes in the movie are so simple but so powerful:

Aragorn and Arwen: Arwens struggle and fight is for love. Her father wants her to leave middle earth forever and live eternally amongst her people away from evil. But she chooses to stay in the name of love

The struggle of Frodo: even the smallest of creatures can change the course of the future. This gives the common man hope to achieve greatness

The struggle of Good versus Evil
The struggle for Friendship when your friends are worlds apart

the themes i speak of are just skimming the top of all the beautiful themes that Lord of the Rings is full of.

The Music, the art, the story, the characters, the actors, its all one beautiful thing that came together in the best of ways

I'm not here to trash, but to even mention Pirates, the third one, forget it. How can you compare one of the greatest achievements in literature and motion picture HISTORY to a half assed kids flick. come on, show some respect

Pirates! I love Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. And I know that Orlando is in Lord of the Rings, but he's much more hotter as a pirate!

I also liked all the special effects and the storyline. It was fantastic!

Other than the fact that Star Wars just plain ROCKS! Star Wars paved the way, especially as far as special effects, for the other two. Don't get me wrong, I loved Pirates and LOTR, but Star Wars was the turning point in movies, and not just for Sci-fi movies either. Not to mention that something that's been getting stronger and stronger for 30 years and didn't lose it's steam after Jar-Jar. That's just flat-out impressive.

I really like all three trilogy's but I would have to say the Lord of the Rings because of how well the movies were made according to the books, and the actors and everything else were so amazing!
