What are the basic fashion and accessory essentials for a person on a budget?

I am looking for items that allow a person to create stylish and put-together outfits… maybe a bit of mix-and-match.

I would stick with jeans, probably three pairs.
Three of four T shirts in any color
A black velvet jacket looks sharp with jeans (try Target)
A couple of sweaters, especially the button kind to wear over the T shirts
One or two blouses to wear alone, over a T shirt, with the jacket or under the sweaters
A sweater vest if you can afford it
A belt to wear over the sweaters
A belt to wear in the belt loops
A couple of scarves to wear as belts or necklaces
Three pairs of shoes: cool sneakers, bright flats, pointy flats
A pair of ankle boots if you can afford it
An awesome purse in pink, orange, bright blue or purple that you can wear everyday and that everyone will notice (trust me on this one)

This should give you plenty of outfits. Take your time shopping and make sure that everything you buy you absolutely love. Don't try to match everything perfectly either. Mixing and matching shows your creativity and is what real style is all about. You'll do a great job!

People on a budget always dress better than people who can afford whatever they want because budget-minded people have to THINK more. Good luck and have fun!

I will tell you first of all to shop at Cato's if you have one, they always have CLEARANCE!! and they are always fashionable. I too am on a buget, and I have found complete outfits for $10!!!!
This is for capris(denim) with the roll cuff and a baby doll style top, very fashionable and very cheap. You can also purchse your basics here... a black, white and khaki pair of capris and in very differant styles to shake things up, you never pay more than $20 per piece and I get the most compliments on my clothes, plus they also have shoes and other accesories that compliment and also again reasonable, Their shoes are made specifacally to match (color wise) their line of clothes and with styles like espedrillas and high heel flip flops plus buisness style you cannot go wrong with this store! I even got a short style blazer and skirt set(lined) totally trendy colors and style 3/4 length sleaves for $8!!!(reg. $45), but even that would have been a bargain, plus it is like shopping at a boutique, because they do not overstock ,they are constantly trading out their line, and I have not seen anyone wearing the same clothes as me~

it depends on if you mean work or outside of work. oustide of work, every woman should have;
-a pair of blue jeans that fit really well

-a pair of skinny jeans (if it fits your body type)

-a pair of cute flats

- a pair of cute sandals

- a three piece suit

-a blazer/jacket

-basic skirts

-2 or more blouses or shirts

-a tunic top

- one or 2 dresses

-a cardigan

-a winter coat

try to make sure that all of your clothes you get go well together, and that will make your wardrobe more versatile. i hope this is what you were looking for!
