Are your contractions very painful and closer apart?

If so, then your baby is probably very close to being born. Call 911 so that someone can be on hand to help you deliver the baby. Call your doctor, too!

Some women have very short labors, even their first time.

For now, resist the urge to push because you might not be fully dilated yet. Instead, pant or blow.

However, if the urge is irresistible, you might just have to let the baby be born. Get some towels handy and a pair of scissors.

I agree with the nurse who answered. First time deliveries are normally longer, BUT not always true. Call an ambulance & get there now, don't wait on your boyfriend. The urge to push normally is when it is needed because the head is getting very low & if your this far, you might go quicker. My neice first child, she was 19, she is about 5 feet tall & weights 100 pounds dripping wet, but she was in labor only 3 hours total, had an 11 pound baby boy & then wondered what the big deal was about long labors & pain! Made me so jealous.................

DO NOT start pushing at home. Quick panting-like breathing is supposed to help to keep you from pushing. Try fast inward, outward breaths during contractions. Call you doctor NOW and let him know about your feeling. You may need to get to the hospital ASAP. If you are truthfully scared that you might deliver before making it to the hospital, call an ambulance. That way, even if you deliver before arriving, you will have medical care at your side for you and your baby.

Resist the urge. You don't want the baby to come out too soon. Try to wait for boyfriend to get there. Good luck and God bless you and little one.

It is highly unusual to have a first baby that quickly. If you are serious about needing to push then call 911 immediately and ask for help.

CALL 911!!!!! Don't push, dont walk around and don't drive to the hospital. A fast first time labor is rare, but not unheard of. You can stall delivery by lying down and puttting you legs up. But call 911 please!!
