My dad actually grows figs in his backyard (figs do not grow in Canada either) and every Fall he buries them and every Spring he digs the trees back up. We have green figs and purple ones...we just had a great "eat" of the green ones and now it's almost time for the purple ones...they are the ones everyone fights over! LOL

In Italy when we went (many, many moons ago) the fig trees were literally HUGE like pear or apple trees and the figs were pretty well the size of a good large pear too.

I do and the irony is I am allergic to fig trees.

fresh figs straight off the tree are really nice, also have a nice smell :)

Yes, they are just so naturally sticky sweet.
Then again I've gotten sick eating to many figs and prunes both.

yes I do, where I used to live, my neighbor had a tree and would give me some. I can't find any where I live now. How long would it take to grow a tree I wonder?
