And SKINS! Millions of kangaroos are shot for their skins every year in Australia. According to Australian government code, orphaned joeys and wounded adults should be killed by decapitation or by being hit sharply on the head "to destroy the brain." When hunters kill a mother kangaroo who has a baby in her pouch, the baby is often yanked from the mother's lifeless body and stomped to death or left to writhe in agony. Please take a moment to speak out against SB 880 which allows the sale of body parts and skin in Ca.: The Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger

Come over to Australia and see how many of these kangaroos and their joeys are starving to death from the drought, then tell me which is more humane!
You obviously haven't seen it first hand!
I know which way I'd rather see an animal die!!
If I had to at all.

This post was obviously made by someone who has absolutely no idea as to what he he talking about.

Kangaroo culling is necessary in Australia. The numbers breed up to plague proportions due to water becoming more available with the developmnet of land. If they are not culled they become over populated & therefore sick & diseased.

Shooters are licenced & allocated 'tags' as to how many they can shoot. Shooters don't shoot the female kangaroos (does) as they are quite smaller & the hunters are paid per weight.

Therefore there is no sense in shooting small sized roos & wasting tags on such.

I have lived & worked in areas where roo shooters operate. I have been out with them on many occasions & it is not how you mistakenly descibe.

Once again I repeat - you have no idea what you are talking about. You have made an emotional post on the basis of some edited & one-sided reporting that you have obviously been taken in by.

Have you ever seen a kangaroo in the wild?

And if you say, 'millions' are killed every year - please back up those figures. & also if your right & millions are killed - doesn't that support our actions of culling them?

if they wanna hunt the kangaroos... well, i'd ahve to say, let them. however, there should definately be hunting laws and restrictions like we have on certain animals during certain parts of the year in order to protect the population. also, don't make it sound like Arnold is advocating or supporting this in any way... he probably doesn't even know about it. it's not like he's out terminating the roo's himself.

At least we don't have a hunting season kangaroo shooters have strict guidelines to follow unlike the free for all for inexperienced first timers out to shoot a deer for sport.

i think that hunting is a sport. but to be a real hunter you have to eat what you shoot or donate it. i dont like to see wasted meat. dont like seeing any skin just sold without proff that the animal was not wasted.

Once again we are making moral judgements of the culture of a people of a different country. Shall we redeploy the troops to Australia?

Totally agree. *sigh* You have to admit there are way too many events to keep track of: Global warming, darfur, dogfighting, corruption, rainforests, iraq war, animal rights, hurricanes, etc.
