It's the Fibonacci sequence. Each number is the sum of the 2 previous numbers.

Starting at 1...

1+0 = 1
1+1 = 2
1+2 = 3
2+3 = 5
3+5 = 8

And so on...you have to add the previous term with the answer you got to get the next. These are also called recursive formulas.

The next number would be 13. 1+1=2, 2+3=5, 5+8=13, etc

you add the numbers like this
1+1=2 1+2=3 2+3 = 5 3+5=8 It could continue on as 5+8=13
8+13 = 21 etc...

u add the numbers together to make the next number. 1+1=2, 1+2= 3, 2+3=5, and so on...
