No one person on this planet is ahead of their time because we are still very primative. If you're talking about intelligence levels that's a different area again. In human society just like with animals some have better ability to remember things better than others. And some people can work things out better than others. It doen't make them more advanced in the whole scheme of things.

Being able to think outside the box. Not being stuck with the socially accepted norms of the society you are born in to. Most people accept what society is telling them about the world and feel that the way society is now will always be the same. However, some people are able to anticipate the trends in beliefs, ideas and technology and anticipate what will happen in the future.

Ahead of your time means that what you contribute to the advancement of mankind and is clearly attributable to you would be blindingly obvious some years after your death but in your own time was a leap forward in understanding.
Usually this is said of scientific/technological breakthroughs, but can apply to almost any field of human endeavour.

maybe; having the knowledge and being involved in something going to be useful in the future.
- ie, technology and innovation. what is going to be more advanced than the Internet, etc...
- possibly their outlook on current sociological / political affairs, ideas and concepts.
mayb being innovative, creative, skilled, knowledgeable and open minded in a certain way which may be considered ahead of their time???
- possibly, being more mature or advanced when compared to your age group. ie, a smarter child; or an older person more skilled within a certain area; ie,technology compared to their age group.

someone who doesnt fit in with the present who is unconventional and an enigma
and feels out of place
someone who is creative like leonardo da vinci inventing helicoters and tanks
or nostradamus seing into the future who are progressive and not tied to social dictum
and see no sense in communicating their ideas to people around them as they wont understand or appreciate them

Able to get a BASIC concept of things that could come. Best example Da Vinci who sketched - Robots, computers, parachutes, tanks, telescopes, flying machines hundreds of years before they were developed & used.

Appearing to have a foresight and understanding beyond their contemporaries. Being able to act upon these instincts.
