my husband and i are planning on a waterbirth for our first child...does anyone know of an informative training/educational videos...also, has anyone hired a doula and what are your thoughts on hiring one if you hope to acheive a natural birth...thank you!!

here is a link to a site that you can buy a video from, worth the investment if you are serious about the water birth thing. They say a doula is wonderful to have.

I heard from my child development teacher that water birth is the one of the best ways to give birth because while they are inside they are in the amniotic fluid they are surrounded by water and its more comfortable for them coming out.

I don't much about giving birth that way but I want to caution you. Make absolutely sure that the person you get is very experienced. My friend's daughter gave birth that way and the baby almost drowned due to the carelessness of the woman who was helping her. The baby was crying at birth and sucked in water and almost choaked to death.
