I don't think that anything except synchronizers will cause that problem, however, you could check the linkage for proper-adjustment (easier if it's external), since I suppose that it's possible that the linkage might be stopping the slider just short of completely engaging the gear...

I'd say it's 95% positive the syncro, though!

The gears are wore out,synchronizers only make it easier to shift.You could have excessive play in the linkage or gearbox selectors shafts.

Worn shifting fork in the tranny not sliding the gears all the way together.

Worn linkage would do it too.
