We love it, but are worried she'll get called "my fanny". What do you think? And one"f" or two?

It's pronounced "ma-VAN-wee", it's a traditional Welsh name - commonly shortened to "Myf"

We're not Welsh, but that's my dad's heritage - also, because we're in Australia where there's more of a British tradition, maybe it's much more uncommon over there in America. It's mot common here, but most people have heard of it...

Myfanwy is lovely. It is indeed Welsh and means "my woman". Myfanwy is the correct spelling and if you spell it with two f's that would change the pronunciation. In the Welsh language, one f makes the "v" sound, where as if you want the "f" sound, you have to use two f's.
Personally I wouldn't use it, especially since I'm in the U.S.. I think it would be best to keep it as a middle name.

Are you welsh? Or do you just like that it means "my little lovely one?"
Personally, I don't like it and I think its going to be tough name to have in HS, but if you are going to name your little girl Myfanwy, then I'd spell it the traditional way with one 'f'.
She'd prolly be called Fanny and that's not bad.

Well if you are saying it is popular where you are, I guess you could go for it. In the U.S. it sounds a little different, but if it is common in Australia and she won't get made fun of, go for it! I would say one f because it just looks alittle less confusing, but I don't know how they normally do it... Good Luck!

It sounds like Tweety bird is trying to say something. Or someone with a horrible speech impediment. Miff-en-we is how I would pronounce the name. Forget about one f or 2 this name is terrible. Why would you do that to a poor kid?

Mispronunciation and teasing is always a risk when you choose an exotic name for a child. I know, Welsh isn't really "exotic" but the name would be very unusual. It can generate some cute nicknames though. One "f" or two would be your choice but I think two would be nicer.

It's an interesting name, but don't do it.
I'm 16, trust me, kids my age find ANY way to make fun of your name. Even if it's common.
I have a friend named Ashley.
People call her A'ssley and A'sscheeks.

two F's and I like how it's pronounced but not how it's spelled
a name like this will set her apart from other children and there might be teasing but that will just make her stronger for the real world

It's not my favorite Welsh name and I wouldn't use it in the US because I think it would get mispronounced all the time. I wouldn't do it, sorry.

Sure isn't common. But I Think I would spell it like this:
Maybe Myfanwi or maybe Myfanwie. I think Myfanwie.
Best of luck to you and your family know matter what you choose.

Do u want your kid to be made fun of? When thinking of names, check to make sure it doesn't sound like anything (i.e. my fanny) and that the initials don't speall anything (i.e. BRA or something). There are a lot of baby name books and naming sites out there. Good luck.
