I've had my Chrysler 2002 300M for one month. The oxygen sensors malfunctioned and as a result, the spark plugs have failed. The dealer says this is a maintenance issue that should have been handled by the previous owner and therefore not covered by the warranty. They want to "split the cost" and charge me $300.00. I can argue this, but I need to go in knowing who I'll be filing a complaint with if they don't handle it.

Kragen.com has a federal maintenance schedule available for your car. I can't link you directly for some reason but if you go to their website a link on the left side that says "Maintenance Schedule" is available for you to click on. It said that the O2 sensor (at least for my car) should be replaced at 101,250 miles. Are you at that point yet? Also, your dealership may have a modified maintenance schedule for your particular car.

You can also try to make your case to the "home office" if you can find the. With my car company, we have BMW North America we can call for complaints. Usually for us, if BMWNA rules in our favor, the dealer has to do the work. I don't know what Chrysler's home office is.

I think your first step is to find out what the maintenance schedule is for your car. If you can use this to your advantage, then go back to the dealer or call the home office and make your case.

BTW: Changing plugs is easy. O2 sensor difficulty varies from car to car.

One more thing, if your O2 sensor was broken, the check engine light should have been lit. You won't be able to claim warranty if you ignored that light.

The car is 5 or almost 6 years old. You didn't mention the mileage on the car. I would say that the dealer is being more than fair with you on splitting the cost. Take it and run.

good luck.

Contact your County Consumers Affair Office and also contact your BBB office. You might also call Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997 www.chrysler.com to ask if this is covered under the emissions or smog warranty.

What the do you think of? in case you do not exchange the fluids and characteristic issues looked at on the cases mandatory there is of undertaking something will bypass incorrect. If I have been the broker i does not honor the guaranty in case you do not do the fundamentals and that is going for any automobile kind so determine you do the first maintenance as spoke of on your instruction manual. Kia's maximum inexpensive automobile is around $10 grand. in case you have that form of money to "throw away" why are you finding at Kia's in case you think approximately them junk? For 10 grand you canchronic in somebody else's "thrown away" automobile. A Base kind to LX 2003 Honda Civic with around 60,000 miles on it. could or won't have a guaranty based if it incredibly is "qualified". it is you cash. customer comments merely named the Elantra and Santa Fe (the two Korean made) impressive probabilities of their instructions. So Eagle, what the **** are you speaking approximately?

that is a maintenance issue on that one, that vehicle is already 5 years old,so technically they aren't responsible for that part of it,you can get this done for over half the cost of it at another repair shop, their charging way too much for this repair, think about it before you have it done ,and ask around on prices, good luck with it.

You have NOTHING to complain about if they are willing to split ANY part of the price of this repair.
