why does my mom act like this???
im 13 and i like tank tops and mini skirts and short shorts and my mom wont let me go out in public
i mean they are a little revealing but no cleavige is showing
she says it embarasses her
and if my shirt is tight then she calls me a slu t and tells me 2 go and change
i mean its a tight shirt big deal!!
am i the only one with a mom like this???

tell your mom that almost every other 13 year old girl wears that in the summer and it's fine.

of course she's trying to protect you. but calling you a ****? that is not cool.

also, she probably hasn't noticed that her precious child is 13 already...she still thinks you're a kid and treats you like this.

Your mom told you not to do something and you did. Why would you use nail polish on something other than a nail, especially if it something that is not yoursregardless of what it was? Your mother is not the problem. You are disrespecting her. She is your mother, who else in the world is supposed to make sure you are fed and properly clothed?? The reason this started happening suddenly is because of your behavior. You sound like an ungrateful little brat. You realize the economy is very bad now, food costs have literally come close to double over the last two years, many are worried about being able to survive this and be able to feed their families and pay their bills. Maybe your mom is trying to make ends meet without worrying you, by asking you not to eat the food she wanted to last, rather than telling you why. Money is tight, parents do not want to scare their children, you should respect her wishes. She is obvious aware that others are just as scared and doesn't want you going to a friends house unfed, as their parents are in the same situations. I know teens think everything is somehow about them, but sometimes it really is not. Think past yourself for a moment and look at the big picture.

I know it seems like your mom is making a big deal out of nothing, but honestly, whether you're 13, 23 or even 43, women who wear tank tops, mini skirts and short shorts are looked at as cheap and are called sluts. You're not going to be able to change this viewpoint, and your mom knows this. She's trying to save you from being embarrassed and having hurt feelings. Girls can be really, really mean, and she doesn't want you to be picked on for something so easy to avoid. Your mom is embarrassed by you wearing these clothes because people will think she is a bad mother if she lets you dress like that. Once again, this is a viewpoint you can't change.

I wouldn't fight your mom on this one. She's right.

I would, however, mix my clothes up a little bit so you can wear what you want. For example, wear cute jeans with cute flats and your tank top. Wear a mini skirt with knee-high boots and a turtleneck sweater. Wear short shorts with a button down blouse and sandals. You get the idea. A little skin in one area with the rest covered equals class, style and originality, which is what I think you're going for here.

Are you wearing all of this at the same time? Perhaps that's the reason. Not to mention you're 13. That's too young to be revealing clothes. and how "tight" are these shirts?

im 13 to. and yes i suffer from issuses like that. i can wear tank tops and all that stuff though. but i cant wear makeup and stuff like that. may be if u dont already have your mom come shopping with u. u can grab shorts and tanks. put them on and go show your mom.let her pick out some that she feels comfordable with u wearing. i hope this helps and believe me u r not the only one out there!!!

Well calling you a **** is not on. It almost sounds like she's jealose. But at 13, dressing like that could give guys the wrong idea. Maybe your mother is just trying to protect you from sexual predators. Dressing like that, your mother said she felt embarrased maybe because she thinks other mothers will judge her.

your mom is just protecting you, don't worry about it. She doesn't want you to come off as a "slu t" so she stops you from dressing that way. Give it time, she'll loosen up when your alittle older. Your alittle on the young side to dress that way anyways.

my mom was like that too when i was 13... the best thing to do is just accept it and try to find something that you BOTH agree on. that way you feel hot and your mom's happy! :]
once you reach high school i bet she'll open up some! :]
