If a first time felon in the NFL gets kicked out of the NFL for life, then there is a player on almost every team that needs to go.

America has truely shown itself in this instance. Fighting dogs is bad, no doubt, but people act like Vick outed a C.I.A. agent or killed someone drunk driving. both of those crimes were committed by people that walked around in the white house.

Until Americans can have the same repulsion from ALL crimes, people will look at americans as haughty and arrogant without grounds to be.

Sounds like goddell is trying to make examples of people, but if indeed a felony disqualifies someone for being an nfl player then watchout drunk drivers, wife beaters, steriod users and party goers.

just break up your body and take the underfunded pension and be on your way

Vick will be punted out of the NFL alright, but not merely for animal cruelty. He ran an illegal gambling ring out of his home. The gambling thing alone is grounds for a lifetime ban from the NFL.

He went before the Commissioner of the NFL and to the Falcons and claimed to be totally innocent. So he lied to both of those parties. I'm sure the league office does not see that in a positive light.

The offenses Vick will plead guilty to are Federal offenses, and they are felonies. He will go to prison.

So no, it's not about PR. It's serious, and it can and will be dealt with as such.

"Sick Vick" punted? By all means. Why shouldn't he be kicked out? Because he's a media hero?

Let me clue you on a few things. These sports "stars" aren't bums rumbling in the mud any more. They are multi-millionaires who are THE heroes of inner city kids. I taught in Oakland public schools so I know what I'm talking here. If they think that "gansta" ways, something they know about, will help them become rich and famous, they're going to grab it because they know that education isn't going to make them the next Barry Bonds or "Sick Vick" 12 year olds hold these "Heroes' as the father figure many do not have at home. Sports stars should not only be held accountable, they should be held MORE accountable, just as a politician who steals from us should be held more accountable than a common thief who may be stealing because it's the only way he can survive. (I know, politicians to get away with whatgever, but we're working on it and nobody likes it.)

P.S. Pittbulls, like any dog, have to be trained to be mean. It is not their basic nature as dogs tortured by "Sick Vick" clearly prove.

If he is indeed banned for life from the NFL it won't be because of the animal cruelty. It will be for the interstate gambling charges (a RICO offense). Gambling, especially on an illegal activity like dog fighting, has been a huge offense for the NFL for a very long time.

He should be punted out of the NFL for life as well as all other players in the NFL who have committed crimes (some of the Bengals). He should punted into prison and then punted out to a deserted island somewhere when he gets out, so we don't ever have to see him again. He should be put on an island with rabid dogs and sharks (as well as his lowlife cohorts and OJ) and eaten alive or left to his own defenses. I don't think it's a PR stunt. He did a despicable thing when he could have used his fame and money to do positive things (establish sports scholarships for college bound athletes or help his community) instead of engaging in betting bloodsports involving innocent animals. Another good athlete bites the dust! Shame on him! He is scum!

Of course it's a PR move - The NFL is a business and having a superstars torturing and killing dogs is not good for business. That's what it's all about. If torturing animals sold more tickets or jerseys the NFL would be standing by him.
The legal system is taking care of what he deserves.

Onlyonelife is over-the-top, but Vick certainly deserves being banned from the NFL until he has served his sentence...whatever that turns out to be. He committed at least one crime...animal cruelty...possibly racketeering. Once he has served his time, if any team wants him...they can have him. He'll never be able to pull in the kind of money he used to get. For a man with his ego...that will be like He11.

Yes he deserves it. It takes a sick individual to put animals through the torture, ridicule and shame that these dogs have been through.

He should get a lifetime ban from the NFL and never wear an NFL uniform again.
Also, since there would also be a breach in his contract with the Falcons, he should have to repay a good portion of that back and all should go to the Humane Society.

Playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right.

Mr. Vick jeopardized that privilege that is shared by only a few elite athletes by engaging in illegal and immoral activities.

Players need to conduct themselves in a way that will not embarass their team, their fans and their league.

The NFL is not the National FELON League.

I believe Mr. Vick will do his time, and he will have a nice life after his sentence. He will still be a very wealthy person. But I hope his life does not in any way intersect with the National Football League again.

I support a lifetime ban 100%.
