someone who is drivin and willing to learn. there is nothing like having a player that really has the potential but does not wanna listen to a word the coach has to say. just keep ur head up high no matter what! just keep ur head in the game and try ur best! GOOD LUCK!

hustle hustle hustle. but besides that, I look for certain techniques depending on position. Do you know what a crow hop is? well, I always look to see if my players now how to crow hop when throwing the ball. It shows me that they have some experience and that they have a natural feel for how to get velocity on the ball. I look for solid swing mechanics and how often they make contact. Contact is critical. Speed speed and more speed. I love fast players. Speed doesnt go into a slump, it is something that you will bring to the park with you everyday. It as always there. you cant coach speed. For softball, I think it is critical to know how to bunt. I see alot of bunt hits in softball. I dont coach softball though. BAseball is my thing. Good luck with making your team.

Batting... 1- mechanics. A good stance, hip rotation, your arm extension and swing 2- do you make good contact

Feilding... 1- your mechanics, your ready position, movement to field the ball, and how you actually field the ball 2- your quickness 3- how well you transfer the ball from glove to throwing hand

Throwing... 1- again your mechanics, how good is your form, do you set yourself correctly 2- your aim, you should aim for the chest 3- your arm strength

Those are the basics of on field evaluation. Of course there are the intangibles such as attitude and hustle.

-A good attitude
-Hustle
-Work ethic
-Willingness to learn
-No doubt that grades will become a factor
-Talent

Show up on time every time, show up prepared every time, do exactly what's asked, show enthusiasm. If you can play more than one position, that counts for extra.

Hussle, Hussle, Hussle. Whenever you go out to the field, or come in to bat, run. Show up early, be the last one to leave.
(It also helps to know how to play.)
