Right now the weather in Iowa isn't that great since it has rained for about a week. However the climate of the state includes at least four distinct seasons and IMHO the best of the lot are spring & fall which can have days so perfect that it brings tears to your eyes - and the tears aren't caused by smog!
I can't generalize about lifestyle since Iowa has both rural and urban & suburban areas and the style of living obviously is different in all these.
If food is the "most important" I can only say that you certainly won't starve and you may even occasionally be pleasantly surprised.

I am originally from Iowa, and if I could find a job there in my field, would gladly go back.
It is kind of a "plain" state on the Great Planes, known primarily as an agritcultural state, with hard working people and strong middle of the road political values. It has one of the best educational levels, and in the movies stereotyped as the boy-next-door boyscout types.. in fact Cedar Rapids is the hometown of GI JOE.
It does have some high tech .. Collins Radio (Rockwell), John Deere, and many applicance manufacturers.
Quaker Oats .. so don't bad mouth Iowa with your mouth full...Iowa is America's breadbasket.
Winters can get cold, and summers can get hot.
Food... well they have McDonalds and Taco Bell like just about everywhere else, but growning up spicy food was salt and pepper . Then I moved to New Orleans and learned what spicy food really was.

Like most places, it depends on which part of Iowa. Granted, our cities are not as large as San Jose, or Chicago, or New Orleans, etc.. but that does not make us a backward people. Iowa has small towns, large towns, rural and urban life. Most people are generally friendly. Iowa has a gentle landscape, but is centered in a great location if more extreme landscape is your desire. Most food is hearty but we have the same types of restaurants you find anywhere. (Well maybe not quite as many fancy overpriced places, but they do exist) The weather fluctuates greatly, and you truly get 4 full seasons. Iowa is a great place to raise a family.

Iowa is not that bad!! it's gorgeous here. I don't know any where else where you can go outside on a summers night and see the stars and just enjoy the sounds of nature.
The lifestyle here is relaxed. It's not like we are stuck in a different time period or anything. We have lifestyles just like everyone else we just aren't surrounded by thousands of people.
The weather is also amazing. The summer time is the best because it gets hot, and it's usually dry, but some days can be extremely humid like today. The fall weather is usally warm, it usually doesn't start getting cold until January. The spring time is usally rainy and cool.
The food is very good lol most of it is homegrown here. The sweetcorn is good, there's lots of pork here because of pigs, and yeah we have good food just like anyone else.
--Are you planning on moving here? because if you are I think you will like it because a lot of people I know who have just visited here say I'm lucky to live in such a friendly environment...

Right now the weather is rainy, but overall the weather is variable. We have all four seasons in Iowa. It can be 100+ degrees or -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Usually, it's not that extreme.
The land is rolling hills with many small rivers. In the east, they go into the Mississippi River and in the west, they empty into the Missouri River.
The lifestyle is family oriented. The food is meat and potatoes with many fresh vegetables.

The Iowans are a primitive people. They live in straw huts and forage for food when they are not participating in rudimentary agriculture. Their language consists of mostly clicking sounds and a couple of deep grunts. They avoid outsiders and their native religion mostly consists of nature worship.
