Ok so since I have been reading all the postings from people asking if their horsie is cute?!?!? and all the posts of the people agitated over backyard breeding does anyone else see the correllation between the 2? Are we raising a generation that is going to be breeding for something other than quality? Paint Pony, maybe we should start educating our young, our future horse owners and breeders to be more responsible!

Sorry kiddos, but I am on my last straw with you and your cutsie horses. Post a real question like "What are the pros and cons of my horses confirmation?" and take the negative along with the positive and LEARN from it. Stop getting mad when someone says something bad, heck go read what people wrote about my horses! A lot of bad but I LEARNED something.
It is YOU who will contribute to the horse overpopulation problem because you think horses are cute. No they aren't!!!! Take them more seriously, please.

Ok I should say not ALL youngins are this bad. I know some responsible ones who know a good horse when they see one and who volunteer at the local shelters.

Yes, I too am mean!

Agreed!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What does it matter if a bunch of random people think your horse is cute? Cuteness doesn't win ribbons, produce champion foals, or even make a good riding horse. Cuteness just makes you say "Awww". Honestly, I've seen very few horses that the average person wouldn't call cute. Wanting to show off your cute pony is fine, but why do you need actually ask if your horse is cute or not?

I wish more people would actually take the time to learn about their horse's conformation. Instead of posting "cute" pictures, why not show a couple conformation shots and ask for serious criticism? Even if it's just a backyard horse who'll never be bred, you can still learn a lot. And unless you have the ugliest horse in the world, you'll still get plenty of comments about him being cute, that he has a nice head, good legs, something!

But of course, there are too many people here who take offense to constructive criticism. They ask people's opinions but freak out when the slightest negative comment is made. Before you can learn, you have to let go of your pride.

Whats worse is some steal photos and proclaim them to be their own horses. Then post pics to brag on their horses that they don't even own.

I know all kids aren't like that and there are some sane cool kids on here that probably have more knowledge than I do from pony clubbing and 4-H.

Its the immature monsters that ruin it for those kids. The ones that lie, steal pics, post howrse questions that a first grader could answer etc.

The horsie thing drives me bonkers too. I see lots of kids in my xray room tromped by horses. Accidents happen, but the horsie kids are lacking common sense honestly. The its always rider error will get you killed. The never discipline a horse with a whip and spurs will maime you. Seen it myself.

I just wonder what the future holds for the omg, idk, w/e, kids that can't type complete sentences and if they do, they are barely readable.

Amen, Amen, Amen. I firmly believe that these kids need a real world eduacation in horses. My nine year started the same "my horse loves me, he would never hurt me, just like the Saddle Club" crap to. And I know I am going to get burned for saying this, I actually let her get hurt to prove my point. I had told her that her gelding will nip at you from time to time if he gets aggrevated or thinks he can run over you. She would not listen, (kept up the "he won't bite me Mom, he loves me" BS). I watched and would yell at him when he started, hoping she would get the hint. She never did. I finally told her that if she let him continue to act this way, that A) she was going to get bitten and B) then she was going to get spanked for letting him do that. It happened and I made good on my promise. And lo and behold the next time he tried it, she rained all over his parade. She snatched him around, popped his nose, and informed him that she was not getting another spanking because of him. In a very loud voice. She also understands that showing is a lot more than shopping for pretty clothes. She also has been taught that all horses have flaws and while everyone may not like her horse best, if she is happy with the way he performed, then that is all that matters. I see a lot of kids whose parents buy them a horse and then do not bother to educate themselves or the child. And I see kids who think the world revolves around them and has to be 100% fair to them all the time. Because Mommy and Daddy told them how special they are. They expect a trophy for showing up. And then on the flip side, I see kids who will work themselves to death to better themselves and their horse. They may never win the World, but at least they are trying, learning, behaving, and most of all, take what they do seriously. Win, lose, or draw.

haha i know what u mean with the "cutsie ponies" I love olive and i think he's the most beautiful horse in the world but i know he's a little lanky and, well, "spirited" ( he's a rescue horse, he's also blind in one eye). I know that i have to work alot harder to get the strides between jumps right because he tends to jump early. And i know that I, too, have issues that i need to work on as a rider. And i believe horses should only be bred by trained proffessionals and no matter what the outcome, "breed for a champion". Oh, and i believe in gelding your horse.

HORSES AREN"T CUTE. they are beautiful, magnifacent, proud, and honest creatures that DESERVE BETTER

AND I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE THINKING THAT TELLING A HORSE "NO" IS ABUSE!!! leaving a horse alone in a field for months is abuse. Beating your horse is abuse. Not trimming your horse's hooves is abuse. Horse's are like kids. They have to be disciplined as well as loved or they get spoiled and bratty

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't even get me started on this problem..

I believe that people should have to pass a test (written, oral, and a test involving contact with horses) and have a breeders license in order to even OWN a stallion, let alone to breed one..

All "horsies" are "cute", but as the horse population is growing, horses become closer and closer to each other, and disesase starts spreading faster.

Due to lack of responsible breeding, inbreeding is also bound to occur, causing other numerous medical problems.

I consider horse breeding just as important of an issue as pre-marital sex.

I totally agree, I am so sick of the post"what do you like about my pretty horse,do you think my horse is nice"o.k we all think our horses are pretty nice looking-but pretty is a pretty does.I refuse to post my mare's picture on here for people to tell me how pretty she is,she looks like a nice horse...and give my ego a boost.I think my horse is very pretty-and frankly I don't care what others think of her-because she is my horse and that's all that matters.I also realize that she is a horse and doesn't need to be treated like a spoiled brat.
I am also sick of seeing posts about horwse or what ever it is called computer game,I came here to talk about real horses not to give advice on how to care for cyberhorses-LOL
trolls really need to get a life-the one pervert about humping a saddle really ticks me off and is a waste of time.there are kids on here and they have to grow up much more faster these days to begin with let alone having to see perverts post nasty comments on here.
Most importantly I think parents need to take a better look on what their kid is saying and doing on a computer-don't get me wrong there seems to be a some kids on here that have some real horse sense to them. But others you feel kinda sad because they have to play a fantasy on teh computer and say things on the web just to get some kind of attention. As a mother it really saddens me that so many kids parents are not monitoring what they do on the computer:(
Great topic-thank you for letting me vent

How approximately those : "Dressage is Letter appropriate", "Dressage riders paux de deux it", and "Hunters and Jumpers do it in mid-air". And from the dressage rider's excuse shirt: "they ought to have further incorrect", "The canines ate my score sheet", and " The choose ought to have been blind". in basic terms some contributions..... Edit: the appropriate sayings are from registration quantity plate frames I even have seen over the years, and the backside ones are from shirts which I even have seen. If those sayings are on broadly seen, pubically used products like this, they are in what's observed as the typical public area, and as such, human beings utilising them won't be able to be sued for plagiarism. the typical public area is reserved for sayings that are turning out to be so hassle-free that they are seen to be a piece of the English language, quite than seperate entities unto themselves, and sayings are no longer the only ingredient that are impacted by using this- there are any form of songs that are seen to be contained in the typical public area too, including " chuffed Birthday", which all of us understand and use in many circumstances. lots of the advice which one normally sees on highway billboards additionally comes under this classification, which includes issues like secure practices messages and public provider bulletins.

AMEN.

Why should I care if some random people from the internet think my horse is cute or not?!??
That is such a dumb question. If YOU like your horse, then well, your good!
Plus horses don't need to be CUTE to win ribbons. They have to perform and behaive well.
