There's no time like right now to start that tuition fund. Open an account in his/her name with you on it as well (and in control).

Take him, his birth certificate to your bank and they should cash it or deposit itwith no problem. Probably won't need the birth certificate, but some banks are picky.

Take the check to your bank. Endorse it (your child's name) BY (your name). It can't hurt to take the child's birth certificate with you. You could always call the bank first to be sure they will accept it.

assuming it is bd gift - take it to your bank - go to a teller that knows you -she would be able to assist you
