THIS IS NO OFFENCE TO ANY OTHER RACE THIS IS JUST A STATEMENT .

i mean like seriously, there arent any show about asians, asians are the co-stars of everything . its annoying . i want to take a stand for once . most things are made from CHINA . like seriously, dont you agree . most popular brands (currently) such as abercrombie & hollister are MADE FROM VIETMAN . i know the company make their clothing line there cause the marketing is cheaper or so so . & usa music is all over asia already. isnt time for asian music to come to the usa? like korean, japanese & etc. not just in asian towns/villages. but in ALL stores . whats so wrong with that? okay, some asians are bad drivers but those are mostly OLD people, or just people who barely speak english . the NEW genoration of asians are much better drivers like seriously. most asians still in school, who are learning english, & so so. will be much better...i really wish somehow we(asians) could make a statement. who else agrees?

It's just matter of time. For example, African-Americans didn't suddenly become main stars overnight. The way the media works, I think different nationalities are coming in one at a time. Asians are slowly coming in (Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat, Russel Wong, Kelly Hu, Lucy Liu, etc..). Give it time. I'd have to disagree with you though about Asians being bad drivers. Go to Korea for instance. Their driving tests are like a 100 times more difficult than here. They have to because of the bad traffic/crowded conditions over there.
Old asian ppl with glasses (particularly the rich tank-sized Benz driving old ladies with glasses) that learn to drive in the states are the really bad ones. Give it time.

The people who make most of those brands are making next to nothing and work harder than most people here. It's not just asia, but other areas in the world. People don't want to think about that when they are buying a pair of Jeans.

Asian music...It's not popular here in the mainstream. Kyu Sakamoto had a hit song in the 60's. It was the only Japanese song to become a hit in the US. Utada Hikaru released a US cd. The music played on MTV, but failed to catch on. Dir En Grey is a Japanese rock group that had toured the US with sold out concerts. Oreskaband (another Japanese band) is playing at Warped Tour this year. They are also going to be in a movie made the same guy who produced High School Musical. There was also a cartoon called Hi-Hi Puffy Amiyumi that was based on a Japanese pop group "PuffyAmiyumi". Obviously you don't know about any of this =D

Asians aren't looked down upon, not more than any group of people.

Hmmm, interesting question! I am a 56 y.o. anglo, 2 of my children are 1/2 filipino and one 1/2 hispanic. The prominant answer would be that many kinds of music/arts aren't played in the US. Too bad! Other culture's music, movies, etc., should be available to everyone who wishes to enjoy them and learn from them!

Perhaps requesting 'foreign' music/movies, etc., at local stores might be the trick! Give it a try! People of all cultures, ages drive really well or really suck; it's the DRIVERS not the cultures nor ages. :-)
Every culture looks down at another's because this is the way we were RAISED by our own parents, regardless of what country we live in. Even each culture looks down on people within it's own culture...again, that's how we are raised. I raised my 3 to enjoy all cultures...chose whom they would to be friends with but to understand, to favor none over the other. That is only a just thing to do. I agree that you could make statements! All peoples need/deserve respect, there is nothing wrong with respect! Hav'a great day!

My husband, who is Vietnamese, jokes that asians are going to take over the world. But in all seriousness, I think asians americans as a people group just haven't been the largest group here in the states, so they haven't received as much attention. It's beginning to change, and people are starting to respect asian art forms, from decor to film. Stereotypes are wrong, but they take time to change - I think it's beginning to change, although there will always be ignorant people who bash anyone who is different from them. Blacks and hispanics in this country have it harder then others I think - there are centuries of stigma between blacks and other races, and now people accuse hispanics of taking all the jobs - totally a cop out, but it happens. Once again, there will always be people that are ignorant, but hopefully with each passing generation, the stereotypes will fade.

They aren't looked down upon, at all! At MIT, almost all of the top graduates were Asian. UC Berkeley's top 10 were Asian, as is most of the freshmen class. Asians, on the whole, score better on tests than most races. That's not speculation, that's a fact. Their culture values education and hard work, something most Americans tend to avoid. The problem of why you don't see them on TV? They aren't a large enough share of the population to gain the attention of the TV studios.

Asians are the least looked down upon, they are seen in positive ways all the time and are loved by mostly everyone for their very humble personalities. Just because Asian music isnt in every record store you find doesnt mean they are looked down upon, it has nothing to do with Asians and everything to do with demographics and sales. There are stereotypes about every ethnicity and we need to all understand that, and not take it as fact but rather ignorance by the people who have created those generalizations.

I have a question for you, and other so called minorities. First let me say I am not racist, but this burns my butt. Why do you call yourself, fill in the blank here...American? As in Asian American, African American, Mexican American? Why aren't you just an American? Why does there have to be a race that makes anyone different from everyone else? Why can't we all just be American and be proud of it? Lets face it, if the country you came from was so great why didn't you stay there or go back?( don't feed me the crap about heritage and pride). Again, I am not racist just fed up with the whole them verses me mentality of some people when it comes to race.

I think you are stressing on the fact that ONLY Asian Americans get looked down on.. Which is FALSE. Many races are looked down upon. Not just Asian .. Hispanics,Blacks We all get looked down.... So Don't feel offended. And about the better driver situation, I think you need more education because driving skills are not measured in race. In this question I think you are insulting some people yourself. I mean I love the facts of your culture & somethings that you say are true.... But remember, we all get looked down upon..

Asian is just like any other race tossed around.
I'm half Vietnamese and yes, I can say that people are still racist. I mean we still are considered colored.

I agree though. Under appreciated. And the whole Virginia Tech thing was because he had a physiological disorder.

And yes ALOT of Asian people are wicked smart.
Most doctors are from Asia.

Because Asian-Americans are usually more hardworking and usually work harder in academic pursuits. And seriously, getting all A's will never be as popular as being the quarterback of the football team.

Also very few Asian-Americans become actresses because we're pushed into more "practical" pursuits like medicine, law and buisness.

Fun, no?
