The 'battery light` means the 'electrical system`.
If you were still getting starts, you've probably just
trashed a good battery.
Have the charging system checked.
Don't know if ABS refers to the whole Brake System
on the Sunbird or not, but have that one checked
out by a pro.

The battery light is actually for your alternator. Have that tested to determine if it's bad. Low voltage can cause alot of lights in the dash to come on.

You could have gotten a dud battery, or you could have a faulty indicator. What else is the car doing?
