End in victory or defeat?
I guess it doesn't matter. I'd hope Immigration would be next on the Agenda. But, as the left tends to control the debate in the media, I'd guess we'd move on to Universeal Health Care or Global Warming.

If the Iraq war were to end that soon it would not matter who ran for President. The United Nations would have taken over and we would get what ever joker they appointed trying to run things

Depends on how it ended. If we just cut and ran, I don't think it would be a good thing. We did the same thing in Vietnam and Korea. I hope we finish what was started and take out as many terrorist as possible and don't let the election be part of what we do. As for a new platfrom...well...it would probably still be security of our country/defense.

of direction it is going to. look at the impression of the Vietnam conflict on elections. many applicants have been thrown by ability of the wayside with the help of ability of effectively labeling them as set off pleased with bombs. For some reason, this u . s . had grow to be enamored with warmongering. which would be because of the fact our 'darkish masters' are warmongers and warlords and lords of conflict. Our movements in Iraq have jeopardized the safety of united statesa.. there'll likely be significant blowback in my estimation.

It might. LOL! Seriously, this may happen. And, then score one for Republicans earning them a possible 2008 re-election because people will assume "Oh Republicans did this and Democrats are defeatists, blah blah blah". I would not be surprised by this.
Just wait and see. Iraq will somehow miraculously stabilize just in time for the 2008 elections.

The Dem's would turn to global warming (seems like a good issue in the summer) as they have exhausted all other issues. The Republicans would have to turn 180 degrees and return to their roots.

Well it will only end that soon if we cut and run. As for the new mainstream issue it would probably still be defense and war on terror, it's just Iraq wouldn't be that leading issue.

It's a great thought but sadly it will never happen... None of the top tier canidates regardless of what they tell you plan to end this war and will prb create other ones with Pakistan and Iran.
The only canidates who actually have a well thought out plan to end the war NOW are Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich... I think if they were elected the next big issue would have to do with our debt and taxes.. which they plan to lower signifigantly...

No really a possibility, but we can always hope! I would hope that the new platform would be for affordable health care & medicine then illegal immigration. Our government should be able to handle more than one issue at a time! Why health care? Because the cost has gotten out of hand for Doctors, medicine & hospitals. For many Americans; working for companies who have discarded their health care packages or turned the cost over to the individual, cannot afford it, they do without or pay out of pocket, if they don't have the money, many Doctors won't see them, no matter how serious the problem. My Doctor wants his money before he even lets me go into the waiting room! Many hospitals want your insurance information before you are admitted, no insurance, no admittance! Even if you offer to pay up front! For those of us who have insurance & the money to pay, its fine, but there are too many in this land of plenty who cannot pay nor can they afford insurance. I hate to think of any child denied care when ill because his/her parents cannot afford to get them the help they need to live.

The war in Iraq ended when Saddam was captured. It is now an insurgency.
