Building character. Hmm. Are you referring to, evolving, learning, becoming even more of who you are? I hardly think a brief kiss of heaven would contribute much. As well as I don't believe for a moment that character is built only by the rough places in life. (Although some do, i.e., one must suffer to know pleasure.) I'll accept all my experiences in life as enriching me, instead.
