i know that the reloadable prepaid visa cards charge a monthly $4.95 fee, and that reloading is $4.95 . Is it that the extra $4.95 you pay to reload goes onto the card and that becomes the monthly fee in essence? If someone could explain to me how this works i'd greatly appreciate it.

You pay the monthly fee every month even if you don't use or reload the card. You pay the reloading fee every time you add money, no matter how often that happens. These are NOT the same fee.

Agree on the fees being different and distinct. One other difference, the $4.95 reload fee generally goes to the merchant, however the monthly will go to your prepaid company.

There is no monthly fee, just an activation fee that I'm not sure of the dollar amount. When the card is out then it is out they can't bill you more, and you can't go over. It's essentially like a gift card.

It's $4.95 everytime you add money to the card. If you add money monthly, yes it could be considered a monthly fee.
