A tip= Don't read into my answers or questions. Whatever i ask...there is a reason why i would and its not to make you feel bad in any way.
Its actually more about me....keeping a certain mentality. And closing some doors.
edit-what i just said might come off as ignorant. But just don't read into it.

It sounds like you've fallen for the common misconception that evolution follows a hierarchy of objectively "better" species. That's not the way evolution works. There may be no "next stage", or there may be many more "stages". But nothing is pre-determined.
Another person here made the argument that humans aren't really pressured by natural selection, since we can change our environment and procreation abilities. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say that this means human evolution has "stopped". It just means we're less susceptible to pressure from natural selection. Natural selection isn't the only thing that drives evolution. We're still going to see effects from genetic drift and mutation. We've already seen a big mixing of genes over the last 200 years as travel has become better and cheaper and different human populations aren't so isolated.

Why is it that someone from religion and spirituality, Geezah, is so correct, while all other answers were terrible wrong?
Evolution is good about conceptualizing the past unto the present. It tells you little about the next evolutionary stages for humans.
And to those who think that modern civilization has thwarted natural selection, you are wrong. You have a mistaken notion of what natural selection is. It is merely the differential survival of replicators. Reproductive success is selective success. Do not forget sexual selection. We may keep people alive, when they would have died, but mating is still assortive.

How about the most glaring defect... a birth canal too small to accommodate an infant's head. Before modern medicine and the C-Section, in some parts of Europe, death during pregnancy was as high as 50%. That's intelligent design??? Then there is the ulna nerve running OUTSIDE the bone, and how about designing the make urethra to pass through a gland that routinely swells and constricts it?

Evolution is about the survival of the fittest, and the apparition of mutations that make an individual more fit in the environment.
Right now, we are not adapting to the environment, we are adapting the environment to us.
And nearly everyone survives, even those with birth defect, thanks to modern medicine so bad mutations are not weeded out.
So, no evolutionary pressure; no evolution. We are stopped for now.

I'd hope Telepathy and Gender Pluralism
But probably Bionics and Tech implants and surgical transformations
That's argueably artificial evolution, but it's definitely a "change of generations"

I was reading about the Mayan Calendar and they believe the dawn of the "New World" might bring TELEPATHY to humans. The last day of this world (as they describe it) is December 21, 2012.
So I guess we'll have to wait and see! :o)

I saw on Animal Planet that they were already working on finding out how a salamander can regenerate its tail when its get cut off. Then they started talking about how someone would be able to use superhuman strength. I guess that would be something

well ya know, when all the polar ice caps melt, and the world floods, we'll evolve gills. Just kidding. I agree with whoever before said that we aren't adapting to the environment, we're adapting it to us and that theres no natural forces causing us to evolve.
