I mean professionally, how can one get a PhD in anthropology. I would assume (for me) go to a community college, pass general education then on to a University. But I have a learning disability in math and cannot pass general education math class.

I have to agree with Ms. 6, I suck at math and I still managed to make it through grad school just fine.

One is generally not considered an anthropologist until the completion of a graduate degree (MA). The typical path to become an anthropologist is to get your BA then go to graduate school to obtain a higher degree. Depending on what you want to do as an anthropologist will dictate what course of action you should take. For example, if you would just like to work in the private sector or for the government doing research then an MA will suffice. However, if you would like to have a job in academia you will need a PhD (although there have been instances of people with an MA working in academia as instructors). My advice would be to take a class in anthropology to see if it is something you would like to do. I have found that many people who want to be anthropologists, really don't know what it entails. However, I do wish you luck in your pursuits.

Don't worry about your math problem many of us Anthropologist are not that great when it comes to math. All you really need it is to understand how to add and subtract so you can pay back all your loans! I agree with the first person who said that maybe you don't have a learning disability in math. I think you can do it too, if you keep the right attitude. If math is such a problem for you then, when you go to school, get a tutor. Most colleges, weather community or University, have math tutors, in many situations if you're in a lower math class, the tutor sessions are free. Look into that & Good Luck with your PhD!

To become an anthropologist will cause you to overcome all kinds of apprehensions. Perhaps you just "think" you're bad at math, when in fact you just need the right teacher, and the right frame of mind. If you do it for yourself, rather than because someone thinks you have to, you just might find a better way. Maybe the math thing is just an apprehension more than a disability. I think you can do anything you set your mind out to do. I say, "go for it." You've already got a plan started, and it's good to have a plan!

I graduated with a degree in Anthropology. Trust me. You don't need to be that good in math. Just basics. What you need to study better is Chemistry & Physics. (includes math though)

Don't ask me, I'm still trying to figure out how to become a gynaecologist. I always thought that would be a job with oodles of job satisfaction!
But seriously. I wish you the best of luck. Anthropology is a really worthwhile and fullfilling career to go into.
