My downspouts are intact, however I need to direct them away from my house. Going to trench a pvc pipe in ground leading from downspouts. Is there a heavy duty pvc? Will be trenching approx 2 ft deep. And what will I need to connect the downspout into the pvc?

We will be driving over this trench and want to be sure the pipe doesn't crush.

Use ABS pipe(the black plastic) It is heavy duty. Screw it to the downspout.

I would suggest a piping called ' drain tile' - its a perferated black plastic piping that comes in a large roll, i believe it also comes with a wrapping to keep debris out but will let water disapate from it. If buried deep enough, driving over it shouldnt affect it - it does need to be surrounded with crushed stone for water dispursment . The only problem with a solid piping is when the water reaches the end - it'll need some sort of dry well /container or way to disapate the water ( leaving it open critters can make nests in there or accidently run over with the mower). Different sized elbows ( suggest a 45 degree for better flow) should fit around the downspout end - an air gap will need to be left so water can flow easier .

Schedule 40 PVC will do the trick. Since you will be driving over it don't use SCH 20 as it is not thick enough to handle the weight.

I would use 4" since leaves and dirt like to clog rain drains. If you are going a long distance you might want to put a cleanout in the line so when it clogs it is easier to clean the pipe.

You can purchase schedule 80 pvc pipe. This is thick enough to hold up to being driven over. There are adapters available to connect square downspouts to round pipe.

What you need is a soakwell (that's what we call in Australia). It directs the water underground and into a soakwell. I am in the process of getting quotes to have two installed, one for the house and one to drain (backwash) the poool.

Go to www.soakwells.com.au You can see the process from start to finish.

Good luck

doing that would mean being able to clean out the pipe why not try getting some gutter barring them part way in the ground the you could hose them out when needed

I would use the ABS black plastic pipe made for this. Back fill with gravel and the top fill.

go to your local hardware, you can use the same stuff
that's used for sewage lines.
