I do a 30-40% water change every two or three weeks (depends on how the tank looks). I have never done an 100% water change. A change like that would kill all the "good" bacteria in the water that help your fish survive.

i do a 20 percent water change every 2 weeks,you don't need to do a 100 percent water change unless you had a disease that killed all your fish and you would;d have to empty it and clean it and refill it again
